Unified Decision

The Town Board, by a vote of 3 to 0, approved a budget for the Police Department for the remainder of the fiscal year. Forty Thousand was allotted for the period of February 1st through June 30, 2009.

Immediately after the budget was approved, the Board, again unanimously, set a pay scale for a full time police officer. The amount was set at $1800.00 plus benefits.

Lastly, Trent Maggard was subsequently hired as a full time police officer for the Town of Buffalo Police Department. This was also with a resounding collective vote of yes.

Tommy Painter was then commended by Chief Murrell and the members of the Board for his continuous service as volunteer reserve police officer.

Chance Brown’s service on the board will be shortly coming to an end as he has chosen to divest his time in other interests and thus elected not to run for the seat again. However he can rest assured that he had a positive impact on the implementation of the renewed Buffalo Police Department and can be proud of that legacy which he leaves behind.

  3. Snippy, Snippy.

I, for one, am happy that the Board voted to move forth with what had been promised to us at the Public Meeting. A "Police Department" that also enforces code enforcement.

Kudos to the Brave and thanks to those who sidle in from the background to hesitantly support that which was already promised. Great move, now what's the next topic to look at?

  9. would guess it is shawn, probably someone had a typing snafu. shawn is a big-time supporter so someone is just trying to suggest negativity.

that comment line looks like sour grapes from someone who had a run-in with our PD and is trying to stir the "pot". after all he has picked up lots of dogs and druggies lately. i am still looking for paw prints.

  10. Be sure and find this week's Harper County Journal to read about the drug bust that happened right here in the city limits of Buffalo. That kind of police/sheriff collaboration is awe-inspiring.

And how about Tommy checking the security of the buildings around town and leaving courtesy notes acknowledging his presence. One can’t help but like this old school approach to the safety and welfare of our town. It certainly seems like we are getting a pretty good bang for our buck so far.

  11. Looked to me like there are several typos in that post. I would not have thought Shan was Shawn. I was pronouncing it ShhAnn. I believe that Trent is spelled wrong and I also think Maggard was spelled wrong. Perhaps they should go back to remedial spelling and leave Shawn to saving lives. Makes sense to me.........

  13. Hey there 64.250.207.12
You do realize the IP addresses don't stay the same all of the time unless they are a static address. Yours is dynamic. It changes numbers. So what if someone goes to "whois by IP adress" and finds out you get your internet service from Pioneer. Still don't know who you are :)
